Satellite Internet Connections

Satellite Internet connections make use of technologies entirely different from those described so far. There are two types of satellite connections:

Satellite connections require use of a kit composed of a dish antenna aimed at a specific geostationary satellite, a special signal decoder card, and finally a transmitting system (in the case of two-way satellite connections) or a traditional telephone connection in the case of satellite return (one-way) connections. The downlink (receiving) bandwidth varies greatly according to the type of service and the contract with the service provider, but the theoretical maximum is a whopping 45 Mbps
